Experimental work | Data acquisition using control desk DS1104

The use of dspace DS1104 for data acquisition is explained in this blog post. The experiment is to use ADC channel of DS1104 to record the waveform of grid voltage.
In order to record the grid voltage, a step down transformer is used that steps down the 110V/60Hz to 5V/60Hz. The secondary low voltage side of the transformer is connected to the ADC channel 5.

  • Open simulink and arrange the following blocks as shown in Fig 1.

  • Now open the control desk 3.7 and click on file > new experiment and save it in the desired directory.

  • Now create new layout and then select data acquisition. From this tab draw plotter and the capture settings. Next click on settings and uncheck the three dialog boxes as shown in Fig 5. Then go to acquisition and click on stream to desk and save the file. and click on start to capture the data.

  • After making the control desk ready, go to simulink model and press CTRL+B to build the model onto the dspace DS1104.
  • Now go to control desk again and start the data acquisition. But before that select the animation mode.
  • The output of the control desk file has idf extension that can be In order to convert the idf file into mat file click on tools > convert idf file and save it in the form of mat file.

It should be noted that the peak to peak voltage range for the DS1104 ADC is 20V(+10V-10V).
